An early Halifax view

 A very early drawing of Halifax before the railways arrived. If you look carefully, I do believe it's possible to see what were the Lilly Lane Baths and Pleasure Grounds where the Train Station now stands. Hope Hall on Clare Road is prominent in the centre of the picture as is the Parish Church, far right.

On this day - March 31st

On March 31st 1911 - Mrs Pankurst gave a talk at Halifax Mechanics Institute

On March 31st 1937 - West Riding amalgamation came into force. Several local district councils went out of existence.

On March 31st 1938 - The new RSPCA clinic opened in Woolshops.

On March 31st 1965 - New Co-operative supermarket at King Cross opened
