On 1st April, 1965 saw a strike by 500 Halifax engineering workers that lasted 16 days.
On 1st April, 1970 The Square Church, Halifax was listed for preservation
On 1st April, 1980 More than 270 workers at John Stirk engineers at Boothtown were made redundant
